Mexico, 1984 - 12 year old rebel, Jorge Pinto, can't seem to get along with his mother or teacher, that is, until he meets the "old lady" living in the, seemingly, haunted & abandoned house near the soccer field. As a friendship develops, Jorge learns the values of life and the cultural contributions of Mexico. Devastated by her death shortly after they meet, it's not until 15 years later that Jorge discovers his friend was the first Latin American woman to win a Nobel prize in Literature in 1939, Miss Esperanza Malagon Prieto, and rediscovers himself.
